About Fantasy Con Scotland

Fantasy Con Scotland is an immersive fantasy event created for fans who are passionate about epic adventures, mythical worlds, and legendary heroes. Held in the majestic Paisley Town Hall, this annual event brings together a community of like-minded individuals for a day of unforgettable entertainment, role-playing, and creative expression.
Now returning for its third year on June 7th, Fantasy Con Scotland invites you to step into a realm where magic and fantasy come to life. From captivating live performances and elaborate cosplay to interactive workshops and fantasy-themed stalls, our event offers an entire day of escapism for those who truly love the fantasy genre.

Why Fantasy Con Scotland Was Created

Fantasy Con Scotland was born from a deep love for the fantasy genre and a desire to create a unique space where adult fans could fully immerse themselves in the worlds they love. Founder Laura Ripley created the event to celebrate the creativity, storytelling, and community that make fantasy so powerful.
As a lifelong fan of epic sagas and mystical realms, Laura wanted to bring a more interactive and immersive experience to Scotland—one where attendees could not only watch and observe but participate, engage, and step into the roles of the characters they admire and celebrate the best of Scottish Fantasy and Creativity.

Why Over 18s?

The company was originally created to make adult focused events. However, over the years, family-friendly elements were introduced due to external pressure. But this took the event away from its core purpose—providing a space for adults to fully indulge in their love for fantasy. With that in mind, Fantasy Con Scotland is returning to its original intent: an over-18s event. This allows us to offer a more tailored experience for those who truly want to immerse themselves in the magic, role-playing, and creativity that the fantasy genre offers.

We’ve found that, when the event was family-friendly, many adults were simply attending to give their kids a day out, without really engaging in the full experience. As a result, the atmosphere wasn’t as rich, and the fantasy magic was lost.

By making the event over 18s, we’re ensuring that attendees come for the full experience, ready to dive into a day of role-playing, creative workshops, and fantasy-inspired entertainment. This shift allows us to focus on providing mature content that explores deeper themes, intricate storytelling, and performances geared towards adult fans who are passionate about fantasy. Whether you're stepping into the role of a hero or villain, enjoying a drink at our fantasy-themed tavern, or participating in live-action role-playing games, you’ll be surrounded by a community that shares your love for all things fantastical.
